Inspire, challenge and motivate!
The thought of the day is an inspiring quotation that sets the tone for the day’s meeting. It is usually delivered by a designated club member at the beginning of the meeting, and is sometimes used as a replacement for or in combination with an invocation or pledge of allegiance.
Before the Meeting
– Find a meaningful quotation, preferably one that relates to the day’s theme, and prepare a brief introduction to the quote. Contact the Toastmaster of the meeting to find out the meeting theme. Treat the inspiration role as you would any other speech you deliver– craft it carefully and practice delivering it before the meeting.
During the Meeting
– Arrive early. When called on by the Toastmaster, stand up and deliver your 2-3 minute thought of the day to the group.
