This is the Buddies way of providing newcomers with more speaking opportunities at the end of each month. There are six prepared speech slots to take instead of three. To make time for this, the speeches will only be only evaluated in writing after the meeting. Each evaluator is expected to watch the speech to be evaluated and complete the corresponding evaluation form after the meeting.
Thanks for being our Buddy!
The theme is “Transformer.” That’s because in August 29, 1831, exactly 189 years ago, Michael Faraday demonstrates 1st electric transformer. In his day, he’s the first one to show that electricity can be turned into magnetism and then turned back into electricity again. This concept is used today to step up or step down the voltage of electricity. What related to Toastmasters is that our “ideas, experiences and emotions” are like “electricity” and like sending electricity, the receiving agents can’t just get them because they are too low or avoid them because they are too much. We need “transformers” to deliver our “currents” or “ideas, experiences and emotions” and these “transformers” were mentioned by “Toastmasters” and other public speakers’ institutes in the forms of stories, examples, anecdotes, jokes, physical props, pictures, etc. There are many things that can help “transform” our “ideas, experiences and emotions” to the audiences. So, when we are using the theme “Transformer”, I invite buddies to use at least one example, one joke, one anecdote or one physical prop in our speeches. Just select one. 🙂 Also, a picture or a set of PowerPoints is counted as “transformer”, too. 😉
Please read notes to role takers carefully if you are not familiar with Toastmasters meetings.
